The foreign capital enterprise “Telefe M International” SRL and the joint stock company “Cotidian” SA have submitted applications for participating in the contest for the state television network No.2, which is now used to retransmit the channel TVR1, announced by the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC). “Telefe M International” asks for a frequency for the TV Studio “2 PLUS”, whose broadcast schedule includes programmes of the Romanian national channels, especially of TVR1, and its own programmes. The second company applies for a frequency for TVR-Moldova channel that will retransmit TVR1 as well as its own programmes. The state television network No. 2 was put up for tender on July 31 after the Ministry of Information Development announced that Romania did not pay for the services provided for it. The Romanian Government was to allocate about 1.8 mln lei on September 11 to clear the respective debts. Earlier, the BCC chairman Vlad Turcanu said that the Council could review the decision to put the frequency up for contest.
