The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) announced on Tuesday, July 31, a new contest for 41 radio frequencies and 75 TV channels. The contest will also propose four networks of the state company “Radiocomunicatii”, three for radio and one for TV. The contest was opened also for those 17 radio frequencies and 11 TV channels, which had to be distributed at the contest that took place on July 5. The contest was postponed due to the violation of several provisions of the Audiovisual Code. In addition, the contest will offer 9 TV channels and one radio frequency whose operation period expired, as well as 23 radio frequencies and 55 TV channels proposed by the Ministry of Informational Development. The introduction in the contest of the frequencies proposed by the Ministry of Informational Development generated debates within BCC. Several members asked that the frequencies proposed by the Ministry are set aside for the next contest scheduled for September. CCA did not support this proposal. The contest will come into force once the decision of the BCC is published in “The Official Monitor of Moldova” and will be valid for a period of 30 days. BCC will set the date of the contest not later than 20 days after the deadline for submitting the offers. According to the provisions of the Audiovisual Code, the broadcasting licenses are offered for a period of seven years.
