The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) on Tuesday, September 25, awarded licences for about 20 made-available radio frequencies. The available radio frequencies will be distributed Wednesday, September 26, and TV frequencies a day later. Vocea Basarabiei Radio obtained with five votes of the Council’s members the licence for the frequency 91.90 MHz from Causeni, which will enable the station to broadcast in the eastern districts of the country. The former user of the frequency – Autoradio station – didn’t get any vote for the licence. The frequency 92.00 MHz, Balti, which has been used by Vanoles Radio up to now, was given to a new music radio station – “Retro Moldova” – which promises to air more programmes in Romanian. The stations Radio Prim (99.90 MHz, Glodeni) and Radio Sangera (96.2 MHz, Chisinau) have kept their older frequencies. The state-owned network of radiofrequencies put up for contest will be further used by the public station Radio Moldova. A number of 48 competitors participate in the contest for frequencies announced by BCC. Thirty-three of them apply for 33 radio frequencies and 15 for television channels.
