BBC launches first broadcast for Moldova on Independence Day

Starting August 27, BBC inaugurates its first special radio program for the Republic of Moldova. It will be broadcasted daily at 20:00 o’clock and will last 15 minutes. According to the BBC Office in Chisinau, the broadcast will cover the most important political, economic, social, cultural and sports news of the Republic of Moldova, including interviews, commentaries, reportages presented by the Journalists of the Office. The program can be intercepted on FM through the partners of BBC – “Vocea Basarabiei” and “Antena C’” as well as on its own frequencies in Chisinau, Balti, Cahul, Edinet, Nisporeni and Ungheni. The Romanian Bureau of BBC World Service was created in 1939; “Radio London” broadcasted its first transmission in Romanian on September 15 – two weeks after the start of the II World War. Offices in Bucharest and Chisinau were opened in 1989 and the number of listeners increased considerably. At present, BBC Romania rebroadcasts every day seven broadcasts to other 100 local stations of Romania, Moldova and Serbia.
