The Governor (Bashkan) of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal, the Bishop of Balti Marchel, Gagauz deputy Ilya Uzun and the leader of Moldova’s Patriots Party Mihail Garbuz must be held criminally accountable for their actions against the state. Such opinions were stated in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Liberal-Reformist MP Ana Gutu, who filed a notification to the Prosecutor General’s Office in this respect, considers that the four, especially Mihail Formuzal, must be punished for their acts that she described as subversive. “Formuzal’s acts are incompatible with the post he holds. I would like to see the judge who will impose a fine of 5,000 lei on him and the judge who will sentence him to several years in jail. I hope justice will be done in this case,” stated the lawmaker.

Former director of the Security and Information Service Valentin Dediu also said that the four should be brought to justice. Referring to Bishop Marchel, Dediu said that he has a separate position and attitude to the Church, which he discredits. “Regretfully, the Church interferes thus in the affairs of the state. I think the Metropolitan Church should take a decision as regards this person,” he stated.

As to Mihail Formuzal, Valentin Dediu said that he planned destabilizing actions, but gave up after the two young men from Comrat were arrested. “I possess information that Formuzal intended to make an approach on June 27, before the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU, but he ‘calmed himself down’ after the arrest of the two,” he said.

Former member of the Joint Control Commission Ion Leahu considers that Formuzal’s presence in the Cabinet is now dangerous. “I’m convinced that he works for the special services of other states, but the Government discusses also state secrets,” he stated. He said he does not believe that Formulzal will be finally condemned as he questions the abilities of the law enforcement bodies to obtain conclusive evidence.

Doctor of Constitutional Law Nicolae Osmochescu said that Mihail Formuzal broke the oath that he took as a member of the Cabinet and should be suspended at least for the period of an investigation.

The law enforcement bodies took legal action against the Bashkan of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal, the Bishop of Balti and Falesti Marchel, Gagauz deputy Ilya Uzun and the leader of Moldova’s Patriots Party Mihail Garbuz over actions aimed against the state.
