The lawmakers who leave the parties on whose lists they entered Parliament should be deprived of seats. The Bashkan (Governor) of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal formulated a relevant bill with amendments to the Constitution and the Law on the Status of MP. The bill was submitted to the Government with the request that the executive should formulate a legislative initiative, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mihail Formuzal does not have the right to submit legislative initiatives, but as an ex officio member of the Government he can formulate proposals and file them to the Cabinet. “When the MPs enter Parliament on the lists of a party and then go, they are put on other lists and discredit thus the whole political system. The people have a negative attitude towards such political tourism. It’s normal for these persons to show courage and, if they do not agree with the party’s policies, they should abandon the seats and go,” the Bashkan said, referring to the proposals formulated by the Government. The legislative body of Moldova includes unaffiliated MPs who entered Parliament on the lists of parties from which they afterward defected.
