The Republic of Moldova will continue to benefit from the honest support of Romania in all the processes that will follow, Romanian President Traian Basescu said in a meeting with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca in Bucharest in the evening of November 14, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Moldovan Government’s press service, the officials discussed Romania’s support in the European integration process in Moldova and the implemented and possible energy projects. “It is very important to implement the projects to interconnect the gas and electricity systems and we count on Romania’s support in this respect. You were very active in Brussels and in other capitals of the EU and supported our cause,” said Iurie Leanca.
Traian Basescu said that Romania will further assist Moldova in the modernization process and will have a more powerful message in Brussels in favor of Moldova’s European integration. “In Paris, I asked Jose Manuel Barroso to consider allocating resources from the Connecting Europe Facility for the 400 kw power lines and we will see how things develop,” he stated.
On November 15, Iurie Leanca is paying a visit to Brussels, together with his Romanian counterpart Victor Ponta. The two will have a meeting with the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso there.
