The leader of the People’s Movement Party of Romania Traian Basescu said that if he enters Parliament, he will make his utmost to bring Moldova’s union with Romania closer. He made such statement s in an electoral meeting in Chisinau, IPN reports.
The ex-President of Romania promised that one of the actions he will take immediately after he enters Parliament will be to form a unification ministry. “We will set up the Unification Ministry in Romania, which will coordinate the involvement of all the state intuitions in the effecting of the union,” he said.
Traian Basescu also said that he is taking the necessary measures to annul the taxes levied from those who apply to regain Romanian nationality. “The Moldovans were deprived of Romanian nationality. It’s not right for them to pay for regaining the nationality,” he stated.
The former President of Romania noted that the union of the two states must take place by political ways, in accordance with the Helsinki Declaration. “Based on the provisions of this document, Germany was reunited and the Czech Republic was separated from Slovakia. By political ways means by referendum or by parliamentary vote,” he said.
