Eleven cases of barbell caviar poisoning have been recorded in Soroca district so far this month. The Ministry of the Environment wars that in the reproduction period these eggs are toxic and can cause severe indigestion, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry. The communiqué says these eggs are often purchased from amateur fishermen who fish in the Nistru River, near Soroca town. The yellow-orange barbell eggs are 1.1-2.6 mm in diameter and are toxic in the reproduction period. The barbell caviar poisoning symptoms include headaches, nausea and diarrhea. The poisonous substance is neutralized only when boiled for 3-4 hours.
