Banks offered in September the year’s highest amount of credits

Data provided by the National Bank show that the commercial banks of the Republic of Moldova offered in September the year’s highest volume of credits, compared with the rest of the months – MDL 1 bln 525.8 mln. In August 2006, the amount of credits constituted MDL 1 bln 457.1 mln. From the total credits provided in September, MDL 836.4 mln were offered in national currency. Compared with the previous month, the volume of crediting in Moldovan lei increased by MDL 54.1 mln or by 6.9%. The highest share in the structure of these credits belongs to the loans offered to legal persons – 78.5%. The credits offered to legal persons in national currency for a term exceeding 12 months maintained on the first place, constituting 60.7% of the total credits, by 5.2 percentage points more. The following in this list are the credits offered from 6 months to 12 months terms, constituting 21.1% of the whole. Crediting in Moldovan lei increased despite the fact that in September the average interest rate increased by 0.32 percentage points, to 18.61% annually. The average rate at the credits offered to legal persons increased by 0.25 percentage points, to 18.4% and the average rate of the credits offered to individual persons increased by 0.40 percentage points, to the level of 20.70%. Also, data provided by NBM show that in September the volume of credits in foreign currency constituted MDL 689.4 mln. These credits were almost integrally offered to legal persons – MDL 683.4 mln or the equivalent of USD 51.3 mln, by USD 0.9 mln compared with August 2006. The credits exceeding 12 months predominate and constitute 49.5%, having an average interest rate of 10.92%. However, their share has reduced by 9.5 percentage points compared with August. At the same time, the credits provided for a period from 6 to 12 months have noted a significant increase – by 5.2 percentage points, to the level of 33.5%. The average interest rate of the credits in foreign currency offered to legal persons increased by 0.08 percentage points and constituted 11% in September.
