The senior state officials on August 24 discussed the events that will be staged to celebrate the national holidays of the end of this month. According to Prime Minister Ion Chicu, owing to the pandemic the bank holidays will be celebrated in a limited format, IPN reports.
The official said that the greatest bank holidays are observed at the end of August, including the most important holiday of the state – the Independence Day. These will be celebrated by observing all the sanitary and epidemiological norms.
Ion Chicu said that last week saw the largest number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. This was due to the non-observance of the imposed rules. If the rise in the number of infections persists, the authorities will have to impose restrictions.
At end-August, public sector employees will have a mini-vacation of five days, from August 27, when it is celebrated Independence Day, until August 31, when it is marked the Our Language Day. Under a Government decision, August 28 is a nonworking day this year. But the public sector employees will work on August 22 instead.
