Prosecutors and anticorruption officers of the National Anticorruption Center seized a number of objects within the searches performed at two houses in Chisinau that belong to the Lib-Dem Vlad Fialt, who was arrested on charges of passive corruption and influence peddling. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO), among the seized objects are bank cards, luxury watches (Patek Philippe, Vacheron), a considerable number of firearms and ammunitions for them, permits for holding these, memory cards and other devices, IPN reports.
According to the PGO, the searches on October 21 and 22 were carried out in the presence of Filat’s lawyer, being authorized beforehand by the judge, in accordance with the legal procedures.
In the immediate period, there will be examined the stored information and the operations performed with the seized bank cards so as to establish the existence or inexistence of connection with the investigated case. The authenticity of the permits for the found arms and munitions is to be determined. Measures will be taken to find out if the seized objects do not represent illegal remuneration for services provided by Vlad Filat.
