“Banca de Economii” depositors born before 1954 can lift indexed deposits as of February 22

The “Banca de Economii” depositors born before 1954, who applied till February 1st 2008, can lift their indexed deposits at „Banca de Economii” agencies or braches, within a first stage starting from February 22, Info-Prim Neo reports. At the same time, the Governmental Central Commission for indexing the money deposits of citizens informs that that it continues to receive registration applications from „Banca de Economii” depositors born till 1954 to be included into the lists of beneficiaries of indexation in 2008 until May 1st 2008. The applications are received by any subdivision of „Banca de Economii”. During the first stage, the depositors receive 1,000 lei, under the relation of 1 leu per 1 Soviet rouble. The rest of the sum will be indexed under the relation 1 to 2.5, but it will be paid off only after all the depositors with accounts at Sberbank till 1992 raise the first thousand of roubles indexed. After the Moldovan leu had been introduced on November 29, 1993, and the prices had been liberalised, the citizens’ deposits devaluated more than one thousand times.
