The team of the Balti-based Theoretical Lyceum “Vasile Alecsandri” won the Government’s Football Cup for the second time. The competition involved players born in 2001-2002, IPN reports.
In the final played at the stadium of the Training Center for Moldova’s National Teams in Vadul lui Voda town, the students from northern Moldova won a 4-0 victory against the team of the Theoretical Lyceum “Universum” of Sarata Galbena, Hancesti. Daniel Danu scored two goals, while Marius Turcanu and Dan Dumbravanu – by one goal. “I’m very glad that we won the title of top scorer. We deserved this victory,” striker Daniel Danu has told IPN.
In the match for the third place, the team of the Theoretical Lyceum of Magdacesti beat the team of the secondary school of Fundurii Vechi, Glodeni, as a result of penalty shootout.
The national football tournament “Government’s Cup” is organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sport, the Ministry of Education, the Moldovan Football Federation, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Interior. As every time, the competition brought together an impressive number of participants – over 9,000 teams and 13,000 students of national education institutions.
