The Balti-based primary education institution No. 12, which is the only preschool education institution intended for children with visual impairments, was modernized and equipped with the financial support of the Government of Japan. The ceremony to inaugurate the kindergarten after renovation will take place on July 13, at 12 noon, IPN reports.

The kindergarten was repaired and outfitted as part of the Grant Assistance for Human Security Projects of the Grassroots Program “Kusanone”. The grant totaled US$ 84,831. A part of the money went to replace the doors, windows and roof of the building and to pave the sidewalks. The other money was used to purchase medical equipment.

There were bought six personal computers with special software for training eyes, apparatus for diagnosing visual impairments and for treating eye diseases and a set of optional diagnostic lenses.

Over 100 children with visual impairments will benefit as a result of this project. These will enjoy better conditions in the kindergarten they attend and medical examinations with modern apparatus. Japan’s Ambassador to Moldova Masanobu Yoshii will visit the kindergarten on the inauguration day to inspect the project results.
