Doctors of the State Public Health Supervision Service inspected the recreational areas of Chisinau municipality and took samples of water and sand. The laboratory tests showed that the quantity of bacteria Coli and E. Coli in the lakes “Vatra”, “Valea Morilor” and “Rascani” is higher than allowed. The amount of intestinal enterococci in the lake “Valea Morilor” exceeds the norm four times, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Chisinau Public Health Center, only the water in the Nistru River and the sand on the beach of the recreational area “Parcul Nistrean” meet the sanitary-hygienic norms.

The doctors warned that the beach of the recreational area “Vatra” is maintained in an unsatisfactory state. The area is not cleaned, there is no person responsible for managing the place and the people are not informed about the dangers to which they expose themselves when resting there.

The beach of the lake “Valea Morilor” was flooded and needs to be renovated.

The State Public Health Supervision Service does not recommend swimming in the lakes of Chisinau as there is a risk of catching skin diseases, Hepatitis A and dysentery.
