Baccalaureate exam pass rate higher compared with 2017

The Baccalaureate exam pass rate for this year after the examination of challenges rose by 1.33% compared with the preliminary results announced on June 27 to 63.97%. Compared with last year, the Baccalaureate exam pass rate increased by about 4%. The results of the main Baccalaureate session were presented by the director of the National Agency for Curriculum and Assessment Anatol Topala in a press briefing on July 9, IPN reports.

The Baccalaureate exam pass rate among high school students is slightly over 85%, up almost 1.5% comparted with the preliminary results. Compared with last year, the rate is by 2% higher. The exam pass rate among graduates of colleges and centers of excellence rose by slightly over 1% to 45.35%. The pass rate among students who failed the exams the previous sessions grew by over 1% to 19.57% following the examination of challenges.

According to Anatol Topala, the graduates of lyceums, colleges and centers of excellence submitted over 11,000 challenges. More than 17% of the grades in Baccalaureate exams were disputed and over 3,000 grades were raised as a result. Practically each fourth challenged grade was increased. The largest number of challenges referred to the grades in the Romanian language and literature exam and then in the exams in the history of Romanians and universal history, the English language, geography and math.

The 2018 Baccalaureate session involved 10,616 candidates from lyceums, 4,015 candidates from colleges and centers of excellence, 167 candidates from universities, 332 candidates who asked to be allowed to take the exams at a distance and 3,020 candidates for failed the previous examination sessions. This is a total of 18,150.

Anatol Topala said the additional Baccalaureate exams session will be held during July 16-23.
