Azerbaijan wins Eurovision, Moldova finishes 12th

The 2011 Eurovision Song Contest has been won by Ell and Nikki from Azerbaijan, with the song “Running Scared”. The band that represented Moldova, Zdob & Zdub, finished 12th, not without the help of the 12 points offered by neighboring Romania. Italy finished second and Sweden third. Moldova also received 7 points from Russia, 8 points from Italy, 8 points points from the United Kingdom, 4 points from Germany, 7 points from Azerbaijan, 5 points from Georgia, 4 points from France, 7 points from Belarus, 5 points from Portugal, 4 points from Lithuania, and 8 points from Ireland. In turn, Moldova offered 5 points to Russia, 8 points to Ukraine, 10 points to Azerbaijan and 12 points to Romania. At the 2005 Eurovision, Zdob & Zdub finished 6th, which remains Moldova's record. Azerbaijan first sang at Eurovision in 2008.
