The Family Planning Society of Moldova is launching a campaign to heighten the awareness of young people themed “I have the right to be informed!” on the occasion of the World Contraception Day, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the society.
The campaign will last until October 1 and was launched in partnership with the Cimislia-based Youth-Friendly Health Center “Youth for Youth”, with support from the Representative Office of Bayer Health Care in Moldova.
The campaign includes a number of informative-educational activities, a Flash Mob meeting in Chisinau and in Cimislia, distribution of brochures, discussions between volunteers themed “Contraception – past, present and future”, a seminar for family doctors from Cimislia district, etc.
There will be presented a new system for distributing condoms − specialized machines where condoms can be anonymously bought at any hour. They will be placed in dorms, discos and other entertainment places for youth.
The actors involved in this campaign hope the number of young people leading a healthy lifestyle as regards contraception will increase and there will be fewer unwanted pregnancies.
The World Contraception Day celebrated on September 26 is a worldwide campaign with a vision for a world where every pregnancy is wanted. Its mission is to improve awareness of contraception to enable young people, especially those aged between 15 and 19, to make informed decisions on sexual and reproductive health.
