Awards of Theater Union of Moldova conferred

The UNITEM 2020 awards have been distributed. Owing to the pandemic, the 19th UNITEM Awards Gala was held online. The Special Jury Prize was conferred posthumously to Iurie Harmelin, for the direction of the production “Oscar and the Lady in Pink” by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, at the Youth Drama Theater “From the Roses Street” Iurie Harmelin, IPN reports.

The other 15 awards were conferred as follows:

The best male role: Vitalie Rusu, for the role of Prospero in the play “The Tempest” by W. Shakespeare, directed by Mihai Țărnă, the Theater “Without Name”;

The best female role: Alexandrina Grecu, for the role of Mădălina in the play “Ciuleandra”  by L. Rebreanu, directed by Alexandru Grecu, “Satiricus I.L.Caragiale” National Theater;

The best Radio and TV theatrical production: the play “Three Philanderers from the East” adjusted by Ludmila Alexei by B.P. Hașdeu’s play with the same name. Artistic direction – Angela Titioi and Victor Ignat. Producer - Ludmila Alexei;

The most valuable debut: Maria Ciobănică, the role of Venera, the play “Women’s Island” by Valeriu Butulescu, directed by Gheorghe Mândru, “B.P.Hașdeu”  Musical-Drama Theater of Cahul;

The best musical creation: Marian Stîrcea, the play “Ciuleandra” by L.Rebreanu, directed by Alexandru Grecu, “Satiricus I.L.Caragiale” National Theater;

The best choreography and bodily expression: Oleg Mardari, the play “Chimera”, directed by Oleg Mardari, Municipal Puppet Theater “Guguță”;

The best scenography: Dmitri Ahmadiev,  “Punctured Stone” by N. Kolyada, directed by Dmitri Ahmadiev, “N.Aronetskaya” Drama and Comedy Theater of Tiraspol;

The best theatrical costumes: Silvia Cojocaru, Don Nigro’s “Passion of Madelyn”, directed by Iosif Shats, “A.P. Chekhov” State Russian Drama Theater;

The best Puppet Theater role: Inga Găină, for the role of Fulguța, the play “Step by Step” by Alexandru Popescu, directed by Svetlana Radu, “Licurici” National Puppet Theater;

The best children’s play: “Bremen Town Musicians” by the Grimm Brothers, directed by Gennady Boiarchin, “A.P. Chekhov” State Russian Drama Theater;

The best secondary male role: Ion Furnică, for the role of the Man, the play “The Herd or the Force of Imagination” by Valeriu Butulescu, directed by Gheorghe Mândru, “B.P.Hașdeu” Musical-Drama Theater of Cahul;

The best secondary female role: Draga-Dumitrița Drumi, for the role of Margareta Cemârtan-Spânu, the play “Files of Siberia” produced by the memories of Ecaterina Chele, Margareta Cemârtan -Spânu, Ion Moraru, directed by Petru Hadârcă, “M.Eminescu” National Theater;

The best Puppet Theater play: “The Wild Swans” by H. Ch. Andersen, directed by Mikahailo Urytskyi, “Guguță” Municipla Puppet Theater;

The best direction: Dumitru Griciuc, the play “Rain Rider”  by M.Vișniec, “V.Alecsandri” National Theater of Bălți;

The best drama play: the play “Files of Siberia” produced by the memories of Ecaterina Chele, Margareta Cemârtan -Spânu, Ion Moraru, directed by Petru Hadârcă, “M.Eminescu” National Theater.

The award winners were announced by the president of the jury Nicolae Darie, People’s Artist, actor of “M.Eminescu” National Theater. The jury’s goal was to watch all the plays in professional theaters of Moldova, including on Radio and TV, staged since February 1, 2019 until present.
