The Government decided to allocate 3.95 million lei from its reserve fund for awarding the Moldovan athletes who achieved results at the Rio Olympic Games and the coaches and medical personnel who assisted these, IPN reports.
Zalina Marghieva and Alexandru Spac, who ranked fifth, will receive by 600,000 lei, weightlifter Sergiu Cechir, who ranked sixth – 400,000 lei, while Larisa Marinenkova, who finished seventh – 300,000 lei.
Sergey Tarnovski, who medalled bronze in canoe sprint, will not be awarded until the International Canoe Federation confirms the final results.
At the 31sth Summer Olympic Games and the 15th Paralympic Games, Moldova was represented by 26 sportspersons.
