The NGO “Prospect” from Cimislia was awarded together with other NGOs at the contest of the UNDP in Moldova for the best action related to the promotion and protection of human rights in 2006, Radio Pro Media reports, cited by Info-Prim Neo. Prospect association created and aired at the local radio and TV station a series of programmes as concerns the rights of children. The situation in this respect worsens in Cimislia due to the massive migration of the population. According to the prosecutor of Cimislia, Ruslan Dobrioglo, over 8180 persons left the raion in the past half-year. 982 minors with both parents working abroad and 2097 parents with one parent abroad were registered during 2003-2006. According to the Chairman of “Prospect” Association, Andrei Baragan, the topic of children rights will be the topic of programmes at radio and TV stations in 2007, as well. Together with the journalists who tackled the issue of human rights, UNDP-Moldova awarded the representatives of the active civil society, such as the Penal Reforms Institute, “Casa Marioarei” Shelter, INTECO, the Medical Centre for the Rehabilitation of Torture Victims “Memoria”, the Association of parents from Zagaranca. For the first time, the private legal consultancy company Consult Grup decided to offer a special award for the National Centre of Transparency and Human Rights. According to the manager of UNDP project “Support in the implementation of the National Action Plan in the field of Human rights”, Ana Racu, journalists are more active in what concerns the promotion of human rights in the non-governmental sector compared with previous years. The information about human rights in the media, the actions of the NGOs and the efforts of the coordinators working in the local public authorities are indispensable initiatives of a state that wants to protect human rights and freedoms. 31 journalists from Balti, Chisinau, Rezina, Rabnita, Soroca, 13 NGOs from Cahul, Chisinau, Ungheni and 26 coordinators in the field of human rights from the local public authorities participated in the contest.
