The gross average monthly salary paid by private sector entities with four or more employees and all public sector entities was 12,175.9 lei in the second quarter of this year. This is up by 17.3% compared to the second quarter of 2022 and by 6.0% compared to the first quarter of this year, the National Bureau of Statistics reported.
The highest averages were recorded in the ICT sector - 30,521.3 lei, financial and insurance sector - 24,704.0 lei, and production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas , hot water and air conditioning – 18,382.2 lei.
The lowest averages were recorded in accommodation and catering activities - 7445.8 lei, agriculture, forestry and fishing - 7643.0 lei, art, recreation and leisure activities - 9047.8 lei.
In the public sector, the average monthly salary was 10,208.0 lei, and in the real sector – 12,852.6 lei.
Compared to the first quarter of 2023, the average number of employees increased by 0.6%. The most significant increases were recorded in agriculture, forestry and fishing. Decreases were reported in education, public administration and defense.
