The gross nominal average monthly pay in the first quarter of this year was 7,633.9 lei. The highest average salary in the period was paid in the ICT sector (17,786.3 lei), financial and insurance sectors (13,728.5 lei) and the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas and hot water (11,820.7 lei), IPN reports.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the lowest average salary was paid in agriculture, forestry and pisciculture (4,842.6 lei), accommodation and public food (5,152.2 lei), arts and recreational activities (5,587.4 lei).
Compared with the first quarter of 2019, the salary in all the sectors of the national economy rose by 3.8% to 17.1%, except for the public administration and defense and mandatory social insurance sectors, where pays declined by 0.7%.
In the public sector, the average monthly pay in the first quarter was 7,086.0 lei, while in the real sector of the economy – 7,834.2 lei.
The real pay for the first quarter of 2020, calculated as a ratio between the gross nominal salary and the consumer price index, was 103.7% compared with the first quarter of 2019, which is an increase of 3.7%.
