Average rate for loans granted in lei constituted 8.36% in September

In September, the average rate for new loans granted in national currency constituted 8.36%, while for those in foreign currency – 4.5%.

The average rate of loans granted in national currency increased by 0.23 percentage points, compared to the previous month. Individuals were given loans with an average rate of 7.91%, while legal entities received loans with a 8.74% rate.

According to National Bank of Moldova data, the average rate of loans granted in foreign currency decreased by 0.08 percentage points, compared to August 2019. Individuals were given loans with an average rate of 7.21%, while legal entities at a rate of 4.42%.

In September, the share of loans offered in national currency represented 68%, while loans in foreign currency constituted 32%. The volume of credits granted in national currency amounted to 1 951.1 million lei, which represents a 8.2% increase compared to the previous month and a 19.6% increase compared to September 2018. The volume of loans granted in foreign currency recalculated in Moldovan lei constituted 917.9 million lei, which is higher by 13.9% compared to the previous month and lower by 9.3% compared to September 2018.

The most attractive loans were the loans granted for periods between two to five years, which represented a share of 46.3% out of the total number of granted loans, while the loans granted to legal entities constituted 30.6% of the total number of loans.

The loans offered in national currency were mainly represented by the loans received by legal entities - 53.7%. Loans in foreign currency were mainly requested by non-financial trading companies, representing a share of 93.3%, while trade constituted 70.4%.
