Average pension still below minimum subsistence level

The average pension in Moldova on January 1 was 873.9 lei. In nominal terms, the pension rose by 7.8% on last year, while in real terms in remained the same, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a report presented in a meeting of the Economy Ministry’s Consultative Council. The pension is still below the minimum subsistence level, which was 1,206 lei for pensioners in the third quarter of 2011 (the last data available). On April 1, the persons will be increased by 9.6% or 87 lei on average. According to the report, the monthly average incomes of the population in the third quarter of 2011 were 1,475 lei per person, up 2.9% in real terms compared with the same period a year before. The ratio of disposable incomes to the average subsistence level was 106.4%.
