The average monthly salary in the economy in 2019 was 7,356 lei. In nominal value, the salary was by 14.1% higher than in 2018. In real terms, this grew by 8.9%, IPN reports, with reference to the National Bureau of Statistics.
The average monthly pay in the fourth quarter of last year was 7,813 lei. In the budgetary sector, this was 6,564 lei, while in the economic sector – 8,287 lei.
The highest salaries were paid in the ICT, financial and insurance sectors, production and supply of electric power and heat, gas and hot water. The average salary in these sectors exceeded 13,000 lei.
The lowest pays were recorded in arts, recreational and entertaining activities, agriculture, forestry and fishing, accommodation activities and public food, slightly over 5,000 lei.
The real salary in the fourth quarter of 2019, compared with the corresponding period of 2018 (calculated as a ratio of the gross nominal salary to the consumer price index), was 104.3%, up 4.3%.
