Average consumer prices down 0.1%

The average consumer prices in August decreased by 0.1% on July. The decline was marked by the about 0.8% decrease in food prices, IPN reports.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the prices of vegetables in August declined by 8.7%, of fruit – by 1.5%, of sugar – by 1.1%, of vegetal oil – by 1.0%. The price of hen eggs in the period grew yet by 17.2%.

Against July, the average consumer prices in August rose by about 0.4% in the case of nonfoods and by 0.2% in the case of services provided for the population. Among nonfoods, the average prices of fuels rose by 3.4%, while of clothing – by 0.4%.

The average consumer prices this August increased by 9.7% on last August (last 12 months). This way, the annual rate of inflation had decreased continuously since November 2022.
