The autumn cleanup campaign has started in Chisinau municipality. This will last until the second half of December. In the period, the municipal subdivisions are to gather and collect the fallen leaves and other vegetal waste. The municipal Public Amenities Division, managers of municipal housing sector companies and of dwellers’ associations are responsible for cleaning the yards and adjoining areas.
Contacted by IPN, head of the Division’s Cleanup Section Vasile Efros said the leaves started to fall and the cleanup efforts should be stepped up, especially near apartment buildings. “In this regard, we call on the managers of municipal housing sector companies and of dwellers’ associations to make sure that the fallen leaves are gathered and collected. These are also responsible for cleaning the playgrounds and household waste collection platforms,” stated Vasile Efros.
The Public Amenities Division must monitor the cleanup works in the yards of apartment buildings, playgrounds, household waste collection platforms, green areas and sports grounds, of which the housing sector managers are in charge, and impose fines, if necessary. The Division will also keep the public transport stations and household waste collection platforms situated near streets clean, based on cleanup service provision contracts.
Vasile Efros said it is very important for the collected leaves, when they are loaded pnto trucks, not to contain household waste, such as polyethylene, plastic and glass, as these will be composted and should be free from such waste. This technology is being tested. The leave storage practice was abandoned owing to the risk of fires.
Vasile Efros called on the people not to remain indifferent and to become involved in the cleanup campaign. The apartment building managers are recommended to post announcements so as to better organize the dwellers, including by providing units of transport for collecting vegetal waste.
Under an order on the autumn cleanup signed by the acting mayor of Chisinau, it is banned burning foliage and other vegetal waste gathered on the territory of Chisinau municipality.
