Authors of best books in 2017 awarded by Writers Union

The best authors and books of 2017 were awarded at the Award Gala of the Writers Union of Moldova on June 22. The winners received diplomas and money awards from the organizers, IPN reports.

President of the Writers Union Arcadie Suceveanu said the event is a holiday of artistic writings. “The nominations lists still include titles that are as good as the awarded ones. All the books of last year taken together show a valuable literary context, valued, emancipated works synchronized with good Romanian, European writings,” he stated.

The winning books and authors were assessed by a special jury designated by the Writers Union and by the Council of the Writers Union directly.

The poetry award went to Eugenia Bulat for the volume “Dialogues of foreign woman with her old friend Alter”. The author said this is her first award of such a scale, noting her poem is a confession written in Venice, but that had been looked for in Bessarabia for five years. The writer said she made a lot of effort on this book, but her work was ultimately awarded.

The novel award was handed over to Doina Postolachi for the book “Ambroise”, while the short prose award to Anatol Moraru for the book “Viewpoint”. Anatol Moraru called on the people to consume literature as the only method of saving the world. The award for essay, criticism and literary history was offered to Maria Pilchin for “Poetry, Eros and power”, while the children’s and youth book award was given to Petre Popa for the work “Blazon of eternity”.

Alexandru Vakulovski was awarded for the volume “Elchin. Head” in the translations category. Valentin Gutu was awarded for the best publicist volume, entitled “Carried by Titanic”, while Elena Druta for the debut book “Being image”. The Opera Omnia award provided by the Council of the Writers Union of Moldova was given to writer Paul Goma, while the excellence award to Nicolae Rusu and Vasile Garnet.

Irina Nekit was awarded for the children’s book “Carousel of spring”, while plastic artist Florentin Leanca got the State University of Moldova ward for illustrating the journal  “Danya” in the Azeri language. Writer Iurie Colesnic won the award in the category “Cultural relations”. Igor Volnitski got the award “Nizami” for translations, especially from the Azeri language, while Andrei Turcanu and Nina Korchinski won the award of the Council of the Writers Union for “Book from Hamlet’s Hhand”.
