The Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Program of Moldova will be adjusted to the EU’s program. This means that simplified customs procedures will be applied in the EU to firms with the AEO status granted in Moldova, while the number of checks performed by customs services will be reduced, IPN reports.
The AEO status is obtained in particular conditions, such as lack of debts to the national public budget and lack of violations of the customs legislation during two years prior to the presentation of the application for obtaining the given status. The business entity must also possess assets with a high solvency degree and a system for keeping a record of commercial and transport operations so as to enable to perform customs checks.
The amendments approved by the Cabinet on March 9 refer mainly to the application form for obtaining the AEO status so that this meets the requirements of the EU’s Customs Code. There was also approved the new AEO authorization model and the regulations concerning the AEO logo, which represents a dark blue rectangle that contains the letters AEO and the country that granted the status, which is Moldova. The unauthorized utilization of the logo is punished with the suspension of the AEO status for a period of 30 days.
