A unified subsidization mechanism will be put into practice this year and this will cover the subsidies provided directly through bills to families that use heat energy, gas or electricity to heat their homes and also the financial assistance in the form of monthly payments for families that use solid fuels in heating, said the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. The cold-month allowances were integrated into the government program “Meter Assistance”, which centers on the provision of subsidies for energy costs, IPN reports.
To benefit from subsidies for energy during the winter period, November 2023 – March 2024, the applicants will need to register on the online platform compensatii.gov.md as from November 1.
The persons who were granted the right to obtain cold-month allowances before the legislative amendments took effect will receive the equivalent value of the allowance, which is 700 lei a month, during the months for which this right was set.
To register in the information system, the applicants will fill out an online form based on which the household will be given an energy vulnerability degree. The persons who do not have access to the Internet or digital skills will be helped to register by social assistants or librarians in their locality.
