Authorities set up heated tents

Five heated tents have been installed in Chisinau, where pedestrians can stop for a cup of tea or simply to warm themselves at any hour during the day or night. Two tents have been installed in Balti and one in Cahul and Cantemir.

Liliana Puscasu, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergency Service, told IPN that a tent has been installed in each sector of the capital: in Botanica – near the market on Dacia Avenue, in Centru – near the Railway Station, in Buiucani – at the intersection of Calea Iesilor and Ion Creanga streets, in Rascani – near the Bogdan Voievod market and in Ciocana – near the market on Mircea cel Batran Avenue.

In Balti, there is a tent in the Vasile Alecsandri Square and one near the bus station on Stefan cel Mare Avenue. In Cahul, the tent is on Victorie Avenue, 1, while the tent in Comrat is near the agrimarket.

The weather forecast service announced an amber code alert for January 30 and 31 in relation to the sudden temperature drops. On Tuesday, highs will vary between -2 and -7 degrees Celsius and lows between -7 and -12. On Wednesday, it will be even colder: -14 degrees during the day and -24 during the night.
