A man aged 22 died after developing complications triggered by flu. The young man hadn’t gotten a flu vaccine, press officer of the National Public Health Agency Olesea Croitor stated for IPN.
According to the Ministry of Health, the number of acute viral respiratory infections decreased during the first week of 2023, while the number of cases of flu remains at a relatively constantly level for the third week in a row. A diminution was also reported in the municipality of Chisinau, where the largest number of infections has been logged.
Also, the medical institutions reported a reduction in the number of admissions. A number of 152 persons with flu and 318 persons with acute upper tract respiratory infections were hospitalized in the period. Most of those admitted to the hospital were children.
More than 12,500 cases of upper respiratory tract infections, over 480 cases of severe acute respiratory infections and 210 cases of seasonal influenza were recorded in Moldova during January 2-8.
