The activity of the Helmut Wolf Social Center in Ciuciuleni village of Hâncești district is hindered by the local public authorities, said the administrator and founder of the institution, who complained about multiple abuses on the part of the mayor of the locality.
In a news conference hosted by IPN, the administrator and founder of the Helmut Wolf Center in Ciuciuleni Valentina Geamănă said that she intended to transform Ciuciuleni into the social capital of Moldova as the possibilities of the center are enormous. But mayor Gheorghe Grigoraş does not want cooperation to exist between the center and the Ciuciuleni Local Council.
The administrator of the Helmut Wolf Social Center noted that the institution was subjected to a thorough inspection by the National Anticorruption Center in 2023. The inspection was initiated following a complaint filed by the mayor of the village to the country's administration, the National Food Safety Agency, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the Hancesti Police Commissariat.
"Furthermore, based on an illegal decision taken by the Local Council, the mayor asks for the cancellation of the lease, claiming that it was falsified. After the inspection carried out by the National Anticorruption Center, no violations were detected, and the court confirmed the validity of the lease. It had been falsified by the mayor’s office, not by us. Therefore, we won the case," said Valentina Geamănă.
The administrator of the Helmut Wolf Social Center noted that the same year the mayor insisted on increasing the water charge from 30 to 40 lei, "illegally, without passing the decision through the economic commission of the mayor’s office." "We went to court again. We won again, but even now we pay 40 lei for water. The mayor considers he is untouchable and is convinced that his status as an elected representative of the people allows him to do anything," stressed Valentina Geamănă.
She said that last year the mayor and those close to him insisted that the center should be abolished as a private institution and transformed into a public association, of which the mayor should also be a member, or, at least, an inspection council headed by the mayor should be created.
The founder of the center noted that repeatedly addressed the head of the Hancesti district and the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova, but none of the complaints were taken into account. Her name is used "in an aggressive social media defamation campaign carried out in Ciuciuleni village".
The administrator of the Helmut Wolf Social Center requests that the relevant bodies and the authorities should take notice.
Medical assistant of the Social Center Zina Baraghin said that she witnessed all the abuses against the institution and the actions aimed at denigrating the administrator. "These abusive actions and the tense atmosphere have an impact on the workers and the people who benefit from the center's services," she stated
