The Government and Parliament asked for an EU mission for assessing the process of reforming the justice sector. A requisition to this effect was transmitted by Speaker Andrian Candu and Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet to the Delegation of the European Union to Moldova, IPN reports.
In a press release from the Parliament’s press service it is said that the two officials consider the assessment of the EU mission will help Moldova to identify possible shortcomings in the justice sector reform and to adjust the internal working program and plan of action.
“Given that we covered more than half of the way and the European Union fully supported the justice sector reform in Moldova, we ask for the EU’s assistance in assessing the process of implementing the justice sector reform strategy and of the Support to Justice Sector Reform Program. There is consensus and political will for completing the justice reform,” says the requisition.
The justice sector reform is a priority for Moldova. Therefore, a strategy for doing it was launched in 2011 and will be completed in 2016.
