President Igor Dodon said the authorities are seriously examining the opportunity of stopping grain exports for a period. At the current stage, the grain reserves allow ensuring the food security of the state, IPN reports.
“Evidently, we should restrict the export, if not fully, at least partially, until the new harvest. Most of the countries that are large grain exporters did so,” Igor Dodon stated in a new edition of the program “President Responds”.
Asked by journalists if it’s true that tens of trucks with wheat are now leaving Moldova, President Dodon denied. He said the authorities are trying to impose nontariff restrictions on export, such as those related to export certificates.
A state of emergency was declared in Moldova until May 15 in connection with the novel coronavirus outbreak.
