Aureliu Ciocoi proposed for ambassador to Germany

Former acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi can be appointed Moldova’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany following the approval of the candidate by the Parliament’s commission on foreign policy and European integration, IPN reports.

In 2010-2015, Aureliu Ciocoi served as Moldova’s Ambassador to Germany and, simultaneously, to Denmark. He also served as Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China and to the United States. The diplomat studied journalism and communication science and has a master’s degree from the Bucharest National School of Political Science and Public Administration, the Faculty of International Relations. He also held the post of minister of foreign affairs and European integration of Moldova.

The commission also accepted Corina Călugăru as a candidate for Moldova’s Ambassador to France. She is a bachelor of economy and a master of law and studies for her doctorate of juridical science. Since November 2015 until present, she has served as Ambassador, Moldova’s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe.

According to the Law on Diplomatic Service, Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representatives, Envoys and Chargé d'Affaires (Permanent) - Heads of Diplomatic Missions - are appointed and recalled by the President of the Republic of Moldova, at the proposal of the Government. Proposals for appointment to these positions or concerning dismissal from them are submitted to the Government by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, in consultation with Parliament’s commission on foreign policy and European integration.
