Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi said that when the Government is interim, it is difficult to penalize the violations of the imposed sanitary restrictions. A state of emergency should be declared so that harsher restrictive measures could be taken, IPN reports.

According to the official, the decision to reopen the shopping centers was taken under the pressure exerted by mall managers. When there is an interim Government, the taken decisions concerning the restrictions must be coordinated with the local public authorities.

“If a state of emergency is declared, even an interim Government is offered instruments for taking much firmer decisions. In the current conditions, it is very hard to take decisions. Now any decision should be coordinated with the other branches of the power. There were many cases when the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission’s decisions were boycotted by the local public authorities,” Aureliu Ciocoi stated in the program “Friday with Anatolie Golea” on RTR TV channel.

The acting Prime Minister said the decision to resume the education process on March 16 was made taking into account the rising number of infections with SARS-COV-2.

“In accordance with the Education Code, the children younger than ten who remain at home must be mandatorily supervised by an adult. That’s what it was decided that the primary school students will return to classrooms on March 16, but the school administration must make sure that the sanitary restrictions are obeyed,” stated Aureliu Ciocoi.

After Parliament approved the derogation from the law on public procurement, which allows for the simplified purchase of vaccines, the official said geopolitics will be left aside and there will be bought all the authorized vaccines available on the market.

“I assure you that in the case of the Pfizer vaccine, we have the conditions needed for storing 200,000 doses of vaccine at the temperature of -70 degrees Celsius. We do not give priority to any of the vaccines. All the authorized vaccines will be bought with the state funds,” said Aureliu Ciocoi.

Recently, the executive allocated 60 million lei from the Government’s Reserve Fund for purchasing 330,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
