The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) party called on the unionist forces to unite in order to field a common candidate for the presidential election of this autumn.
In a news conference hosted by IPN, Boris Volosatyi, a member of the Parliament of Romania, chairman of AUR Moldova, said that the party does not put forward any AUR candidate for the presidential election as proof of the party’s disinterest in proposing an own candidate.
“We provide a platform for the unification of all unionist forces in order to represent us in this competition with one person, the best of us, who could be the voice of the unionists on the political arena of the Republic of Moldova in the pre-electoral and electoral periods,” said Boris Volosatyi.
He noted that the integration into the European Union through Romania is the most sincere, the simplest and shortest way. “The reunification of the Romanian nation would mean that the Republic of Moldova, through one signature, is part of the European Union and is under the NATO umbrella. This is absolutely necessary, especially in the conditions of the war that Russia is waging against Ukraine because this war is against those who want to live freely and democratically,” added the AUR Moldova chairman.
Gheorghe Myrzenko, a member of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians, noted that the Republic of Moldova can move towards Europe by reuniting with Romania, the motherland, and called for the unity of those who want to reunite with Romania.
Veronica Pascal, head of the AUR Moldova Women’s Organization, said that the Romanians in Bessarabia, who are over 1.5 million in number, are hit directly in the heart with this pro-European referendum. “We are hit to leave our love for Romania and vote for a small evil,” she stated. She called on all the right-wing parties, movements and public organizations to create a center and identify the best candidate who can represent the unionists with honor “so as to send only patriots to the presidency of Moldova and also to that of Romania.”
