The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), which was registered in Chisinau, will take part in the snap parliamentary elections of July 11. AUR calls on all the unionist forces of the Republic of Moldova to combine forces and produce one list of candidates for the July 11 elections.
“Last week, we were put officially on the Register of Political Parties in Chisinau with the same symbol and the same name. It is for the first time in the history of the two states, from both sides of the Prut, that a party exists on the two banks of the Prut. We want to have AUR MPs, unionist MPs in both of the Parliaments and therefore we will run,” AUR co-president, Romanian MEP George Simion told a news conference.
The president of AUR of the Republic of Moldova Vlad Biletski said the reunification of the two banks of the Prut is the only chance for Bessarabia to return to normality. Those who imagine and try to fuel chimeras and the illusion of the European integration perspective of the Republic of Moldova separated and detached from Romania promote utopian ideas. “AUR does not assume populist messages. It will promote with dignity the national historical truth. This way, on both sides of the Prut, there will be a political force that will transpose this feeling,” he stated, noting the Alliance for the Union of Romanians has promoted the main pillars that form the Romanian identify – family, faith, nation, freedom.
AUR MP elected by the diaspora Boris Volosatyi read a statement in the name of the six Bessarabians who were elected to the Parliament of Romania in December 2020. “The party pleads for the confirmation of the Romanian identity of the Republic of Moldova and the building of a political destiny together with the historical and ethnical part – Romania. The Alliance for the Union of Romanians of the Republic of Moldova is homologous with the Alliance for the Union of Romanians of Romania and represents the interests of the Romanians from the left side of the Prut through the six Bessarabian MPs,” noted Boris Volosatyi.
According to him, the snap parliamentary elections are a huge opportunity for strengthening the Romanian identity, society in the Republic of Moldova. In a bid to achieve this goal, AUR welcomes any initiative for unifying all the Romanian political forces and condemns the split of the unionist segment.
