The AN-72 planes put up for auction remained unsold for the tenth time in a row. This is due to the economic crisis that hit the companies and the people's lack of interest in old Soviet-type aircraft that are not allowed to enter the European airspace, the head of the Auction Commission Vitalie Bucatari stated for Info-Prim Neo.
Tuesday's auction was held in Lunga, Floresti. Besides other property owned by the Marculesti International Airport, there were auctioned two AN-72 planes for US$600,000 and US$950,000 respectively. There was no bidder for them.
Sources in the Marculesti International Airport said these planes have been put up for auction because they can no more be used in international aviation. They are equipped modesty and do not hold commercial interest.
However, the exhibited old cars have been sold at the auction. If they hadn't been sold, they would have been earmarked for scrap metal, Vitalie Bucatari said.
