Attic-like apartments to be built within “First House” program

The “First House” program implemented by the Chisinau City Hall will be extended so that the beneficiaries will be able to purchase attic-like apartments, Info-Prim Neo reports. The program is intended for young families on a monthly salary of 3,000 lei. A one-room apartment with an area of 40 square meters will cost €13,600. The apartment building will be erected in 6-7 months, said Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca. The monthly installment will not exceed 1,500 lei. The families that will be able to pay immediately 30% of the apartment’s price will pay the rest of the sum in monthly installments of 1,250 lei, said the head of the General Finance Division Veronica Herta. She also said that another two commercial banks expressed readiness to join the program “First House” and provide loans repayable in up to 30 years, at an annual interest rate of at most 9%. According to a program launched in 2000, the City Hall will build 15,000 attic-like apartments.
