A 36-year-old woman is under investigation by the authorities after concealing cigarettes in her luggage. According to customs officials, 170 packs of cigarettes bearing the excise stamp of the Republic of Moldova were hidden with the intent to smuggle them illicitly, IPN reports.
The cigarettes were intended to be transported to the United Kingdom. The case was documented by officials at the Customs Post at Chișinău International Airport, in coordination with border police, after conducting a specialized baggage check for passengers on the "Chisinau - London" route.
The cigarettes were confiscated and are subject to seizure, while the individual faces a potential fine.
