At least 100 broadcasters will cover the election campaign preceding the June 14 local general elections. So far the Broadcasting Coordination Council approved the statements concerning the editorial policy for covering the election campaign of 52 TV channels and 48 radio stations, head of the Licensing and Authorization Division Lidia Viziru said in the May 8 meeting of the Council, quoted by IPN.
In the same meeting, the Council imposed the minimum fine of 1,800 lei on four broadcasters that didn’t present statements. These are: “Gold TV”, “Fishing&Hunting Channel”, “TV Rain” and “Radio 7/Paдио 7”. Initially, the four broadcasters were issued with a public warning, but they didn’t comply with the demands and were thus fined.
Earlier, the Council decided to monitor the main news programs of the TV channels “Moldova 1”, “Prime”, “Canal 3”, “Canal 2”, “Publika TV”, “TV 7”, “Accent TV”, “Pro TV Chisinau”, “Jurnal TV”, “N 4”, “Realitatea TV”, “Ren TV” and “RTR Moldova” so as to see how these obey the regulations concerning the covering of the election campaign prior to the June 14 local general by the mass media of Moldova in the period between May 9 and June 14.
