“The Resurrection of our Lord is the brightest holiday for a Christian, it is the celebration of joy and truth, it is the victory of life over death, of faith and hope in the resurrection of the dead and in eternal bliss”, says Archimandrite Iordan of the Holy Trinity Monastery, located in Frumoasa village, Călărași district.
The priest told IPN that at Frumoasa Monastery, preparations for Easter take place from Thursday, when the nuns make pasca and cozonac. On Saturday, the eve of Resurrection, other dishes are prepared.
The Holy Vigil liturgy will begin at 10:00 p.m. Holy Fire will be brought to the monastery at around 11:00 p.m. Readings from the Book of the Acts of the Apostles will follow. At 11:45 p.m. there will be a procession around the church. After midnight, the Easter Matins will be celebrated, followed by the Holy Liturgy. In the morning, at 04:00, the priests will bless the food and wine brought by the parishioners.
“At Eastertide, people must be kinder, more loving towards each other and towards the Church”, says Archimandrite Iordan, adding: “Believers must devote their attention to the neediest. This is what Christ, crucified and risen from the dead, teaches us”.
