The Association “Youth for Right to Life” marked 15 years of the foundation in the evening of December 5. The event was attended by beneficiaries of the organization, volunteers and politicians. The invitees were met by a military brass band, Info- Prim Neo reports. The Association’s head Antonita Fonari said that owing to the volunteers the Moldovans’ mentality about such problems as sexuality, reproduction or HIV/AIDS has changed essentially even if there are people who think that the HIV-infected persons should be burnt at the stake. In the anniversary ceremony, Moldova’s second President Petru Lucinschi, who provided the Association with a head office several years ago, said that there is no civic spirit in Moldovan society. The people should be more receptive to the needs of those around as they usually do not need much money for doing good things. The Association “Youth for Right to Life” is a nongovernmental youth organization that promotes volunteering and social inclusion by involving civil society. Currently, its members include over 80 volunteers who work in the two head offices of the organization, one in Chisinau and one in Balti.
