The head of the Association “We Are Moldova ETS” that is based in Italy made a public call to the Government, President and Parliament and on a number of ministries to accept the invitation to discuss a project to build 33 pyrolysis stations in the Republic of Moldova. These stations will enable to reduce the quantity of waste, will contribute to increasing the country’s energy independence and will also enable Moldovans who work unofficially abroad to secure a pension.
In a news conference hosted by IPN, the Association’s chairman Alexandru Melnic called on decision makers to initiate public discussions on this initiative and to constitute a working group that would analyze the proposals of the diaspora.
According to him, polls show that the diaspora could invest €1 billion a year in Moldova’s infrastructure, if an investment fund is created and this will also be used to finance the pyrolysis stations. This way, Moldova will not have to borrow money from banks.
Alexandru Melnic also called upon the MPs elected with the votes of the diaspora to act as intermediaries between the diaspora and the state institutions, as they promised.
Ion Rață, director general of the international consortium “Implementation of Innovative Projects”, said that tires are processed by using pyrolysis and this process can generate high value added. Hemp is a plant that does not have an analogue. A tonne of hemp briquettes can replace a stere of firewood. There is an international convention providing for the cultivation of hemp and this was ratified by Parliament.
