The association for human rights “Right to Justice” identified another 25 persons who are featured in criminal cases started by order. In a news conference at IPN, the association’s president Pavel Grigorchuk said the list will be transmitted to Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo.

According to Pavel Grigorchuk, the list includes Natalia Ursachi, the mother of five children, whose case wasn’t yet started by order. The woman took out a loan for a business that went bankrupt. As she could not repay it, she was jailed. “Even if ex-president Igor Dodon promised that after the elections he will make sure that the woman is released, she continues to be held in jail and her children stay without their mother.”

Another case is that of journalist Gennady Brega, who has political asylum in Iceland. In Moldova, the case started against him is unresolved. The list also includes the case of activist Anatol Mătăsaru, who continues to be investigated because he exposed the mafia clans of prosecutors.

Pavel Grigorchuk called on President Maia Sandu to discuss the criminal cases started by order in the meeting of the Supreme Security Council and to punish the representatives of the legal system involved in illegalities at least with dismissal.

In another development, Pavel Grigorchuk presented a progress report of the organization he represents for October 2019 – December 2020. One of the first actions was the flashmobbing of October 20, 2019 aimed at preventing a number of corrupt judges from holding the General Assembly of Judges so as to bring the judiciary under control. In a news conference on December 19, the association presented a list of almost 40 criminal cases, asking Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo to initiate the reexamination of these. On January 24, the association presented a list of about 50 persons (police officers, prosecutes, members of the SIS) who allegedly started the criminal cases by order. During the state of emergency, lawyer Eduard Rudenco provided advice to persons who were illegally fined for violating the quarantine regime.

The association’s members plan to create the own website, to attend all the hearings in cases started by order, to take action for all the political cases to be dropped, to launch a book of  interviews with persons who were illegally investigated. “Even if some of the prosecutors try to sabotage the work done by the prosecutor general, namely owing to his efforts all the political prisoners from our list this year were set free and a number of persons were acquitted, including Iurie Bolboceanu (ex-MP accused of espionage, e.n.) stated Pavel Grigorchuk.

The association for human rights “Right to Justice” brings together persons who suffered because of injustice in Moldova. It was registered officially on November 12, 2019.
