Female Ukrainian refugees created a public association that comes up with solutions to less evident problems experienced by the Ukrainian community in the Republic of Moldova. The event to launch the Association of the Network of Refugee Women from Ukraine “Female Support Force” was held in Chisinau, IPN reports.

The Association’s goal is to offer support to female Ukrainian refugees and to help them to successfully adjust to peaceful life. The Association aims to create a community within which to promote the integration, multicultural exchange, entrepreneurship, protection of the rights of women in crisis situations.

Germany’s Ambassador to Moldova Margret Maria Uebber approved of Moldova’s readiness to integrate refugees into social bodies, into the educational system and the labor market. This is important for female refugees as the acquiring of skills will help them to become independent from economic viewpoint. “The second objective of the Association is to constitute a dialogue forum with the institutions and local authorities with the aim of including the specific needs of Ukrainian refugee women into public policies and programs. This way, the project offers the Ukrainian refugees a voice and enables them to express their own needs.

Svetlana Andrieș, UN Women Moldova program coordinator, said the role of such networks is to amplify the voice of women and to make it heard. “We, UN Women, believe a lot in networks and dialogue with platforms,” she stated. “Only together with these organizations that plead for equal rights and opportunities for women, alongside men, we can propel the economic, social and political integration of women, including those from Ukraine.”

The event to launch the Association of the Network of Refugee Women from Ukraine included discussions that involved officials and representatives of different NGOs and associations that promote women’s rights.

The event was staged as part of the project “Stronger Together” which is implemented by the Association of Entrepreneurs with Disabilities of the Republic of Moldova with the assistance of UN Women and is financed by the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF).
